This is One of the Best Sports Weekends All Year

The number one criteria for a great sports weekend is having action from multiple sports in critical times of their season.  The opening week of baseball has just finished, NBA and NHL playoff hunts are nearing a close, and the greatest tournament in golf is upon us with The Masters.  (The best single day in sports is the first Saturday in May, but that’s for another post.)

There is nothing better than watching those first few moments of The Masters telecast on Saturday and Sunday and hearing the silky voice of Jim Nance and those two words.

As I write this on Friday afternoon, Patrick Reed is in the lead at 6 under and there are a plethora of the world’s top golfers right behind him.  Naturally, the key to making sports as exciting as possible is by having a rooting interest.  Everyone may have their favorite team or in this case, their favorite golfer, but that can only do so much.  The best way is to throw down a few bucks and then you’ll follow intently to each piece of grass.

To win the tournament, I took a bit of a spray and pray approach:

Jordan Spieth +900

Justin Thomas +1095

Justin Rose +1360

Phil Mickelson +1675

Henrik Stenson +3500

Matt Kuchar +4500

Patrick Reed +5000

Brian Harman +8500

Zach Johnson +12500

Now it’s time to get ready for the weekend, curl up on the couch, and enjoy the two best nap days of the year.  Because when that music comes on, there’s no better lullaby.
