Do you ever search for something in Google and then notice it following you around as you continue to browse the web? Well, Google is selling your search info for advertising with Google Adwords and Google Adsense. So you turn on Incognito mode and think you are all good but in reality, you’re still being tracked. As more and more of my Google searches were filled with the top results being paid ads and highly targeted, I wanted to find a search engine that simply provides the best result.
For this reason, I have started using DuckDuckGo (terrible name) as my default search engine. The claim is they don’t sell or keep your search history or personal information. This way, each search result is based on the best result possible instead of a machine learning algorithm using your past search history.
DuckDuckGo isn’t going to beat Google for search engine supremacy, but if you want all the privacy you can get, then I suggest installing the extension on Chrome or making it the default page of your web browser of choice.
